While caring for my mother. I turned to Aloe Vera Formula to heal her stomach ulcer.
The reason for this was that her doctor, at the time, didn't seem too concerned about the pain my mom was enduring because of her ulcer and, after prescribing various pills, it was obvious he didn't seem to have the medicine that was going to actually heal my mom's ulcer.
I must have done a google search and then talked with a fellow at the health products store, because I ended up giving my mother three, two-ounce hits of a particular aloe vera herbal formula, daily, for the next two weeks. Sure enough, by avoiding acidic foods and fruit juices, and by giving my mom camomile tea and water as the preferred liquid, her body healed itself of that ulcer.
I have provided a link as to the health benefits of ingesting pure aloe vera juice: http://www.vitamins-supplements.org/herbal-supplements/aloe-vera.php "Aloe vera juice
can be used as a natural remedy in the treatment of stomach ulcer and
mouth ulcers because of its anti-inflammatory effect. It appears to have
a soothing effect on the ulcer, and interferes with the release of
hydrochloric acid by the stomach. Oral aloe gel supplements may lower blood glucose
levels in people who suffer diabetes. The anti-inflammatory effects of
aloe gel may be of benefit in arthritis for the control of joint
inflammation."
Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of 3 larger meals. It is important that you avoid overeating. Frequent, smaller meals will be more comfortable and easier on the stomach than two or three large meals a day.
Eat a diet rich in fiber, especially from fruits and vegetables
Rest and relax a few minutes before and after each meal, as well as remaining relaxed during meals.
Eat slowly and chew you food well
Avoid eating within 3 hours before bedtime
Eat foods that are low fat
Avoid foods that are fried
Avoid foods that are spicy
Cut down on the following foods:
Coffee
Decaffeinated coffee
Black Tea
Cola drinks
Carbonated beverages
+ Citric acid found in lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, pineapples, fruit juices and jams
Tomato-based products
Chocolate
Avoiding certain over-the-counter pain relievers The use of aspirin and NSAIDs (non steroidal inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and Aleve) can cause ulcers, or aggravate symptoms if you already have an ulcer. If you need to take these medicines, your doctor may prescribe another medicine to protect your stomach.
Foods that heal ulcers:
A high-fiber diet is recommended for people with ulcers because it speeds recovery. Fiber is in fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes and whole grains. In addition to easing ulcer discomfort, fiber benefits heart health, stabilizes blood sugar and can help control weight.
Probiotics Probiotics are live microorganisms that may benefit health. Long-term use of probiotics lowers the risk of infection by H. pylori and development of ulcers. Common sources of probiotics are organic yogurt, miso, tempeh, some juices and soy beverages. We use New Roots "Acidophilus Ultra", a probiotic tablet containing 11 billion live active cells of 10 different cultures. And the capsules are 'enteric-coated' to make it past the stomach into the digestive tract. http://www.abacohealth.com/index.php/prodid/NRT010
Flavonoids Flavonoids are phytochemicals that are rich in antioxidants and have been linked to prevention of heart disease and cancer. Sources of flavonoids that may inhibit bacterial growth are: Onion (bulb) Lettuce (whole plant) Basil (leaf) Cranberry (fruit) Cabbage (leaf) Kale (leaf) Brussels sprouts (axillary bud) Kohlrabi (shoot) Spinach (leaf) Asparagus (root) Fennel (fruit) Soy (seed) Scarlet runner bean (whole plant) Lima bean (leaf) Garden pea (shoot) Adzuki bean (seed)
Everyday Herbs Rich in Flavonoids Dill (seed) Tea (whole plant) Basil (leaf) Thyme (whole plant) Cayenne (fruit) Coriander (fruit) Peppermint (whole plant) Chamomile (whole plant) Anise (seed) Read more: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/surprise-foods-rich-in-flavonoids.html#ixzz1QiZKAq3c During the healing period...apples and cranberries may be too acidic.
Low-Fat Foods Fatty foods should be limited because they increase stomach acid, which can irritate ulcers. Decrease dietary fat by choosing lean meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and low-fat dairy products.
Cruciferous Vegetables (present in this food group is one group of phytonutrients-the glucosinolates) http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=264 Cruciferous vegetables that heal ulcers and prevent cancers: broccoli*, red cabbage*, kale*, collard greens*, Brussels sprouts, kohlabi...
All, when eaten raw, or steamed, "contain some key isothiocyanates that form after the glucosinolates have been acted upon by myrosinase enzymes. For every specific glucosinolate, there are corresponding anti-cancer compounds produced following action of the myrosinase enzyme." These vegetables also contain Sulforaphane which has been found in clinical studies to destroy the H Pylori bacteria often responsible for peptic (stomach) and duodenal ulcers.
